Try diving in Komodo National Park

Never been diving before? No worries. Our Discover Scuba Diving program has your back.

If you haven’t seen the incredible reef and creatures found in the Komodo National Park, you must take time during your vacation in Indonesia to experience it. It is one of the few places in the world where the corals and ecosystem are still thriving despite the rapid changes in ocean chemistry. The best way to witness this foreign and beautiful world? By seeing it first hand with one of our experienced PADI Scuba Instructors.

Your first experience breathing underwater is unique and something that people remember for the rest of their lives. It can also be the start of a lifelong hobby where you can really be a part of and learn more about the wonders of the ocean. The best part is that this experience is accessible for just about everyone of all ages and fitness levels.

See the Beauty of the Komodo National Park First Hand

The Komodo National Park is known as one of the top dive destinations in the world. Every dive is different and the biodiversity of the Coral Triangle is out of this world. Whenever we go diving in Komodo, we are surrounded by life which can include several different species of turtles, loads of tropical fish and sometimes manta rays.

The Discover Scuba Diving program (also known as DSD for short) is the perfect way to get introduced to the world of diving.

Also, for those of you who are interested in the Open Water Course, your DSD experience can count as dive 1 in your certification course so you’ll be well on your way to officially being a scuba diver!

Here’s how it works here at Azul Unlimited in Labuan Bajo:

Once you get situated on the boat and we start heading towards the Komodo National Park, your PADI scuba instructor will sit down with you to start the briefing. They will explain how to use your scuba equipment as well as basic dive theory and safety techniques. After, your scuba instructor will review the skills that you will be completing underwater. Finally, you will learn about the creatures you will be seeing underwater and important information about how we can help keep the reef healthy.

The first dive starts by getting used to your equipment at the surface and then descending in shallow water. Once you feel comfortable with your breathing and position in the water, you will practice a few skills with your instructor. During the rest of the dive, your PADI dive instructor will be with you at all times, supervising your safety, as they guide you through the dive site.

This is Where the Real Fun Begins

During this portion of your dive, your instructor will be pointing out the creatures in the area. You will feel weightless as you swim over the colorful reef and explore a world, which few have experienced. Regardless of whether you are able to continue with the Open Water Course while visiting Labuan Bajo, you will without a doubt come up from the dive with a fantastic memory that will stay with you forever. It will be easy to understand why your dive instructor has turned diving into their career.

For the second dive, we will go to a different dive site so that you can see the variety of the Komodo National Park. During this second dive, your instructor will continue to be right with you, guiding you through the site, while controlling dive time and depth. The best part about this second dive? You don’t have to practice any skills, just descend and enjoy the sights!
